In November it was officially announced that Instagram would become more search-friendly. [Still yet to find any REAL confirmation] BUT, let’s say it’s true, how would this work? Kinda like Pinterest? [so much YAY for this]
Without the use of hashtags, you basically just search for a keyword in the search bar and relevant posts will pop up [see images - it’s slowly starting to roll out!]
This will be game-changing for small businesses who have been working hard on their content as we should expect increased opportunities for more reach on posts.
I recommend taking early advantage of this update. Sit down and up your content game in 2021 and make sure your captions include RELEVANT keywords that will help Instagram identify what’s being shown or talked about in your post. [this is why I have been working so hard on my businesses SEO lately, it will work the exact same way for Instagram!]
What do you think about the potential shift?
I think it will be a lot more effective than hashtags in the long run, especially for those overwhelmed by hashtags. I think it will encourage businesses to put more thought into the captions they're writing and also show you more relevant/accurate content instead of spam that has nothing to do with the keyword you're searching for.
